Seed sowing hack!

If like me you end up with stacks of old seed packets and aren't too sure whether they're still viable, then here's a great trick. Instead of having to risk wasting compost, seed trays and time, you can take a shortcut. Grab yourself a plastic container (takeaway cartons are great for this).
Line it with damp paper towel and sow a small line of seeds onto this. You should be able to sow several different seeds in each container. Write a label so you know which line is which seed type.
Then just place the container somewhere warm and light and wait!
Most viable seeds will germinate within 10-14 days, but check the seed packet as some will need a bit longer. You can now go ahead and sow those seeds properly with confidence and throw away any that didn't germinate.
